James Riggins

December 30, 1937 - March 19, 2022

James Jefferson Riggins, 84, of Marietta, Georgia passed away on March 19, 2022. He was born on December 30, 1937 in Molena, Georgia, the son of James Luther Riggins and Susie May Kitchens Riggins. James grew up in Molena, Georgia on his family’s farm and their property on Hill Street. He worked for Georgia Power / Southern Company for over 22 years. He was married to Patricia “Patsy” Louise Pate until her passing on June 3, 2010. James was known by many of his family and friends as JJ or Jimmy. He had a true servant’s heart, selfless and kind. He was a devout Christian and was active in various church groups at Mount Harmony Baptist Church in Mableton, GA. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Patsy. Survivors and close family include Janet Coleman (Rick) Newmeyer of Dallas, GA; Ann Coleman Foster of Fort Worth, TX; George (Martha) Coleman of Denton, TX; Gary Miller of Conyers, GA; Cindy (Holland) Sanders of Hiram, GA; Deborah (Gary) Price of Sandy Springs, GA; Dawn (David) Nowell of Littleton, CO; and many more extended family and friends. The family will hold a Funeral & Memorial service at 4 pm on Friday, March 25, 2022 at the White Columns Chapel, 1115 Clay Road, Mableton, GA 30126, (770) 948-0113. In addition, Interment will be at Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 5755 Mallory Road, College Park, GA at future date.
