Oma Cantrell

Oma Ometer Massey Cantrell, age 83, of Dallas, passed away on February 13, 2011. She was born to Joseph Oscar Massey and Lula Mae Harp Massey on April 14, 1927 in Roswell, GA. Oma attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and participated in their "40 Years of Purpose" program. She was also a member of Westside Church of God and enjoyed going on many senior trips with North West Baptist Church. Oma loved to garden and maintained a special rose bush in honor of her late husband of 29 years, Raymond John Cantrell. Oma is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond John Cantrell who passed away in 1976 after 29 years of marriage; brothers, Buster "Buck" Massey, Ed Massey, Dewey Massey, the twins: Cleo and Leo Massey, and W.C. Massey; and sisters, Leola Hamil, Elizabeth "Totsie" Fryer, Lucille Vaughn, Plassie Gazaway, and Kathrine Barnes. Oma is survived by her sons, Dannie Cantrell and wife Charlene of Dallas, GA and Randy Cantrell and wife Victoria Vaughn of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Randy L. Cantrell, Jr., Amanda and husband Dustin Lane, Philip Brandon Cantrell, Shawn Derek Cantrell, John Eric Cantrell, and April Kathleen and husband Mark Brenner; great-grandchildren, Nathan Cantrell, Blake Cantrell, Gabriel Lane, and Hannah Renea Cantrell; several cousins; and many nieces and nephews. The family will be receiving friends on Monday, February 14, 2011 3:00pm-5:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm at Gene Davis-White Columns Chapel with a funeral service on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 11:00am in the chapel. Pastor Rodney Carson and Sam Posey will be officiating. Interment will follow the services at Roswell Cemetery in Roswell.
