Yvonne Colby
July 7, 1932 - June 20, 2010
Yvonne "Vonnie" Colby was born on Thursday, July 7, 1932 to her loving parents, John L. Colby and Josephine Pappin, in Cadillac Michigan. From a young age, Vonnie shined with talent. She played in the LPGA Circuit for thirteen years (from 1953 through 1966) and was featured in several newspaper articles for her expertise. Later, Vonnie began to work for Rich's, a rising department store at the time. She was diligent and devoted, as she was with anything else she set her heart on, and retired 30 years later. She settled in Mableton, Georgia in 1967 where she lived out the remainder of her life. Vonnie was a long time member of Saint Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church and finally came to rest with the Lord on Sunday, June 20, 2010. Vonnie Colby is preceded in death by her father, John L. Colby and her mother, Josephine Pappin Colby. She is survived by her two brothers, Robert L. Colby of Sylvester, GA and John L. Colby of Lansing, MI and several supportive nieces and nephews. Vonnie's services will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at 10 o'clock am at the Mableton Chapel of White Columns Funeral Chapel with Father Jose Manjaly officiating. The family will be accepting friends on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm. Burial will follow the services at Mozley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs, GA. Although the talent that Vonnie possessed will be remembered in history, her light will shine forever at peace with the Lord.
